Did you know: go to our website at www.clallam.org. You will find a link for the 2005 Community Profile. On Page 3.4 new businesses compared 2000-2005. Interesting--total number of new businesses in 2000 was 378 compared to 2005 which was 869. All sectors increased, but some more than doubled such as Retail and Services.
Page 6.1, search for Taxable Retail Sales by Sector. An increase occurred in every sector from 2000-2004. Manufacturing had a 112.9% increase from 2000 to 2004 (newest available statistics in this topic).
Quote of the Week: “Skilled labor is equivalent to oil. Next time you hear that one-third of our [state’s] high school students don’t graduate on time, think of it in those terms. Think of it as one-third of our nation’s oil supply disappearing.” Tim Probst, CEO of Washington Workforce Association, The Columbian, September 27, 2006.

In February 2006, State Parks held the first in a series of public workshops toward this end. At this initial meeting, participants suggested their ideas for park development along with other hopes and concerns they had about the project. Planners have now incorporated these ideas into a series of alternative park development and conservation concepts for public review and input. To view the information go to http://www.parks.wa.gov/plans/millerpenn/ click on "Alternative Park Development and Conservation Concepts”
Park planners will present this information, answer questions, and solicit input at the 2nd public planning workshop scheduled for October 26, 2006, 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M., at the Carrie Blake Park Guy Cole Convention Center, 202 N. Blake St. in Sequim. This information has been posted to give participants (you) an opportunity to review materials in advance and bring your preferences and ideas to the public workshop.
