Congratulations to Executive Director Linda Rotmark for her recent completion of Session 1 of the Economic Development Institute. This Institute consists of three sessions and is directed towards economic development professionals who wish to become Certified Economic Developers. Classes, workshops and discussion sessions on financing, real estate, marketing, strategic planning, business retention and expansion, just to name a few, are offered These are very intense one week sessions. Upon completion of all three sessions, you have the opportunity to sit for the Certified Economic Developer exam. The second session will be in the Spring of 2007 with the final one in the Fall.

The Washington State Community Economic Revitalization Board (CERB) is pleased to announce the Local Infrastructure Financing Tool (LIFT) Competitive Program. The LIFT program allows selected local governments to take advantage of tax revenue generated by private investment in an RDA to help make payments on bonds used to finance public infrastructure improvements. Incremental revenue increases in the RDA and revenue from other local public sources are used to match state money and must also be used to repay the same bonds. Cities, counties and federally-recognized Tribes are eligible to apply for the $2.5 million that will be awarded competitively by CERB. The maximum award for any one project is $1 million per year for up to 25 years. For more information or to receive an application, contact this office.
